The bigger threat is category substitution: YOLO Foods (frozen healthy not vegan), Vegan District (premium-grocery retailer), and meatlessJACK (lower-price frozen rendang/curry) collectively compete for the same freezer slot. Nobody else combines these four. Mushroom Lah owns rendang but is Malay-Muslim slant. Vegecore is hipster KL. meatlessJACK is bargain-mock. Yeo's pastes are non-vegan + hypermarket. The Tatler / NST / CNN endorsements are unreplicated in the Tier-1 set.
The "allium-free / no five-pungent / pure-vegetarian Buddhist-safe" claim is also uncontested in Tier 1 — meatlessJACK + Vegecore + Mushroom Lah do not make it.
Price: at RM22.90/pack, Pinxin is 60% above meatlessJACK (RM14) and 40% above Vegan District house (RM14.90). Justified by ingredient story but a price barrier for trial.

Pinxin is the only West-MY brand that owns Penang heritage + Chinese-MY voice + Buddhist-observance + Tatler/NST validation simultaneously. The competitive risk is not creative — it's distribution and price-anchor. Win cold-shelf retail and a trial-tier price, and the moat compounds.
